HERTOG JAN

DUKE JAN

Hertog Jan (Duke John, referring to Duke John Ist of Brabant) is a brand of beer from the Netherlands that, since 1995, has been part of the international group Anheuser-Busch InBev.

The brand is closely linked to the brewery Limburgian Arcense Stoombierbrouwerij, located in Arcen, although a number of beers were long brewed in Dommelen at Dommelsch. In 1998, the traditional name of this brewery, evoking the steam engines used, was changed to Hertog Jan Brouwerij.

The Hertog Jan beer borrowed its name from Duke John Ist of Brabant, who, according to legends, loved well-watered beer parties and is sometimes considered to be Gambrinus, the symbol of beer lovers.

In addition to its blonde beer, Hertog Jan is known for its high fermentation beers, brewed in an artisanal way.
