STELLA ARTOIS
WIKIPEDIA
History of the brewery
In 1366, the Den Hoorn brewery (the Horn) is founded in Louvain, in Belgium. In 1708, Sébastien Artois becomes the master brewer. In 1717, he buys the brewery where he has been working for 7 years. Subsequently, he also purchases two other companies and his business is then considered one of the largest breweries in Europe. In 1813, Jeanne-Marie Artois and her sister run the family business1. In 1926, this company creates Stella Artois, a stronger pilsner-style beer than those brewed until then. In 1987, the brewery merges with the Piedbœuf brewery to form the Interbrew group. Currently, it is one of the four production sites in Belgium of the Anheuser-Busch InBev group, heir to Interbrew.
