To properly care for a polyester t-shirt and extend its lifespan, here are some practical tips: Wash cold: Wash the t-shirt in cold water to prevent the polyester fibers from warping or shrinking. Cold water also helps preserve colors.
Use a mild detergent: Choose a mild detergent, without bleaches or harsh chemicals, to protect the fabric.
Avoid fabric softener: Fabric softener can clog polyester fibers and reduce its breathable properties. If you want to soften the fabric, a little white vinegar can be used when rinsing.
Gentle cycle wash: If using a machine, opt for a delicate cycle to prevent the t-shirt from being shaken too much during washing.
Air drying: Prefer to dry in the open air. Polyester dries quickly and avoids the use of a tumble dryer, which can cause the fabric to pill or shrink.
Tumble dry low: If you must use a dryer, opt for a low temperature setting to minimize the risk of warping or static.
Iron at low temperature: If the t-shirt becomes wrinkled, iron it at low temperature (polyester generally does not require ironing). Use a cloth between the iron and the t-shirt to avoid direct contact.
Avoid abrasive cleaners: Do not spot clean with abrasive products that could alter the fibers or colors.
Wash inside out: Wash the t-shirt inside out to limit wear on the printed or decorated side and prevent pilling.
